Founded in 2020, the company aims to create a fully automated, vertically integrated insect protein business, emphasizing sustainability and nutrition. Divaks primarily uses by-products from local food and agricultural sectors for raw materials, ensuring traceability by sourcing from registered feed businesses. The company specializes in breeding and rearing yellow mealworms (Tenebrio molitor), using unique diets to ensure essential nutrient provision and optimal living conditions that mimic natural habitats. Critical processes include blanching, which inactivates insects and ensures microbiological stability, while adhering to strict animal welfare and food safety standards. Divaks has advanced processing capabilities, utilizing techniques such as grinding, purification, drying, and extrusion, to produce high-quality insect-based products in various forms, including powders and texturized proteins, with different nutritional values and properties. Established in 2022 in Vilnius, Lithuania, the facility serves as an intermediate manufacturing site to validate lab results on a larger scale before launching a new industrial-scale plant in 2026 in Marijampolė. This plant, constructed by YIT Lietuva and equipped with technology from the Bühler Group, is expected to have an initial production capacity of 10,000 to 15,000 tons of insect-derived ingredients annually.
