In Nieuw-Lekkerland, start-up Joy Bugs is working hard on a healthy, sustainable and protein-rich alternative to eating meat: the grasshopper. This small, cold-blooded creature is farmed more sustainably and efficiently than the meat from the regular meat industry, provides all important nutrients and tastes wonderfully savory. Grasshoppers are naturally a high-quality source of protein, vitamins and minerals, in principle all the important nutrients we need. And growing locusts is a lot more sustainable and efficient than the current meat industry.
