Food & Bio Cluster Denmark (FBCD) is the national cluster for food and bioresources, dedicated to helping companies accelerate innovation and sustainable development. The cluster provides inspiration, networking, collaboration, and business development in partnership with knowledge institutions. FBCD focuses on utilizing residual streams, such as upcycling brewery mash into ingredients for baked goods and transforming food waste into new products through value chain collaborations. Projects within the cluster include investigating the use of benign bacterial cultures to extend the shelf life of fish products and developing cloud-based solutions for fermentation processes. FBCD also organizes events, including an annual general meeting for members to influence organizational agendas, and promotes funding opportunities for innovations in collaboration. It plays a pivotal role in fostering partnerships for Danish and international projects that contribute to green transition, tech, digitalization, and business development. Notable collaborations include upcycling rapeseed cake into sustainable ingredients through fermentation and using mussels to improve marine environments. With more than 140 participants at recent events, the cluster emphasizes collaboration and scaling within the biosolutions sector. Director Anette Engelund Friis, appointed in 2025, is tasked with leading FBCD through a merger with AgriFoodTure. The cluster is recognized with the ECEI Gold Label for its management excellence and aims to be a global leader in sustainable innovation within the food and bioresource value chain.
