MENA Regenerative Agriculture
Launched in December 2023, the MENA Regenerative Agriculture Initiative aims to build a coordinated regional ecosystem for regenerative practices across arid and water-scarce regions. The initiative seeks to empower smallholder farmers, scale innovation, and shape supportive policy and finance frameworks to accelerate the transition toward sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems. The initiative is implemented in partnership with HSBC and Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB), with technical support from the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT Food) and strategic alignment with the United Nations Climate Change High Level Champions. Through its multi-stakeholder framework, the initiative aims to translate policy commitments into tangible, scalable action for sustainable agricultural transformation in the MENA region. MENA Regenerative Agriculture Initiative aims to: ➔ Position the region as a center of excellence for arid and climate resilient agriculture ➔ Create MENA regenerative agriculture movement and awareness - addressing regional challenges & opportunities ➔ Support & Capacity build the knowledge economy: research, science and data backed solutions; bridging the gap with the private & public sectors. ➔ Develop a regional regenerative agriculture regional stakeholder network & enabling ecosystem to address needed policy changes, kick start transformation in food systems and bring research solutions to life - to scale accessible innovations for environmental & social impact
