Top 50 Farmers
Top 50 Farmers is a European community platform and recognition program focused on regenerative agriculture. It identifies and showcases pioneering farmers across Europe, then connects them with peers, knowledge, visibility, and opportunities that can help strengthen their farms and businesses. The initiative is designed for farmers who are already putting regenerative management into practice or are clearly transitioning toward it. It positions farmers at the center of the transition by building relationships across farming and beyond, and by helping translate recognition into practical support, learning, and influence. Based in Copenhagen, Top 50 Farmers was launched by Foodprint Nordic in 2024 and operates as part of a broader effort to make regenerative farming the norm in Europe. Core Values Farmers first : Farmers are placed at the center of the work, with the program built around their realities, ambitions, and independence. Relationships : The organization emphasizes trust, honest exchange, and connections that continue beyond a single program or event. Integrity : Top 50 Farmers says it works with care, transparency, and responsibility in how it handles farmers, partners, information, and opportunities. Openness : The initiative values curiosity and cross-border, cross-sector exchange, bringing together different countries, generations, and farming systems. Collective strength : It aims to strengthen farmers’ collective voice and ability to influence the future of farming by bringing them together. Unique Aspects Pan-European farmer network : Each year, 50 new farmers join a growing community spanning many European countries, creating a cross-border network of regenerative practitioners. Farmer-first recognition model : The program is explicitly not a ranking of the “best” farms; it is designed to recognize contribution, diversity, and leadership while supporting ongoing learning. Backed by Foodprint Nordic and Astanor seed funding : The site states that Top 50 Farmers was launched by Foodprint Nordic in 2024 with initial seed funding from Astanor. Built around curated ecosystem connections : Beyond visibility, the initiative actively connects farmers to capital, markets, experts, and organizations, aiming to turn recognition into practical opportunity. Selection with transition included : Up to 10% of each cohort can be farms still transitioning toward regenerative management, provided they have a clear commitment and timeline to phase out synthetic inputs.
