BioGrano was founded in 2020 and unites both experienced pioneers and young farmers who share a passion for organic 'grains' for human food. Grains and legumes are a cornerstone for sustainable organic farming and have therefore traditionally been an important crop in crop rotation. They contribute to the (bio)diversity in and around the fields, can be combined with soil-enriching green cover plants and are part of a pleasant and diverse landscape in which consumers recognize themselves. BioGrano feels strongly connected to the nutritional needs of the local population and therefore puts quality, taste and nutritional value above maximum yield. BioGrano grows demand-driven and customer-oriented and provides the necessary intermediate storage and processing (triage, peeling, packaging, etc.) to offer an authentic, high-quality and local raw material. BioGrano focuses on short and local chains between organic farmers and consumers and seeks cooperation with local intermediaries/partners who share and endorse our passion. Each link/partner is visible and is fairly valued for its contribution. BioGrano® therefore strives for transparent partnerships based on mutual trust and correct and fair pricing. Based on concrete challenges in the Belgian market, BioGrano actively focuses on developing and sharing knowledge and experience. We seek broad information, look for inspiring innovations at home and abroad and work together with relevant Belgian knowledge partners to further evolve towards a balanced, viable and local agricultural model. BioGrano is currently active in the Westhoek, the Leie and Scheldt regions, the Flemish Ardennes and the Dender region.
