HAPIH (Hrvatska agencija za poljoprivredu i hranu) is a specialized public institution in Croatia focused on agriculture, food, and rural development. It operates through nine organizational units, or centres, each covering a specific area of activity such as seed and nursery production, plant protection, sustainable crop and fruit production, viticulture, winemaking, olive growing, livestock breeding, quality control of raw milk, honey, feed, and food safety. The agency supports strategic programmes for the Republic of Croatia, provides technical, professional, and scientific backing to the competent ministry and other stakeholders, and carries out research, monitoring, and public-authority tasks that improve agricultural productivity, competitiveness, and food-system resilience. Its mission emphasizes scientific excellence, implementation of research in agricultural and food production, and strengthening professional and infrastructure capacities, while its vision highlights modern, sustainable agriculture and food systems, environmental protection, and food security. The team is organized into management and specialist units, with leadership supported by a broad institutional structure that brings together laboratory, human, and infrastructure resources to serve producers, policymakers, and the wider agri-food sector.
