Position Paper Upcycling to the Consumer

Based on several one-on-one conversations with partners, the February Webinar Upcycling to the Consumer and several Community meeting about the market for upcycled food, Foodvalley NL identified a need to allign definitions and bring out an ambition statement with respect to the development of a market for upcycled food.

Co-creation of various stakeholders: In June, partners of the Upcycling Community gathered to align on the objective of the paper and the key topics to adress. In the summer period the writing process takees place. Various working groups of co-authors coming from the Upcycling Community of Foodvalley NL but also other experts share their experiences, research results and vision on the future. Experts who are involved come from the Wageningen University, Maastricht University, Istanbul University, Upcycled Food Association in the USA and Innova Market insights, and still more partners are joining to have a widely carried and international perspective on the market of upcycled food.

The working groups focus on some key questions to be answered about the as is situation’ versus relevant ‘recommendations’ for further collaboration within the value chain and with other relevant target groups for this position paper. October the 2nd those working groups will come together to present the result. The objective of this meeting is to also identify the relevant gaps in content or representation of content by relevant actors as ‘must haves’ for heading towards the next phase.
