About Federation of the Food and Drink Industries of the Czech Republic (FFDI)

Potravinářská komora České republiky (PK ČR), also presented in English as the Federation of the Food and Drink Industries of the Czech Republic, is a service and representative organization for Czech food-industry businesses and professional associations. It was established on 12 July 1995 and later renamed in 2000; under Czech food law it also has a statutory role in representing the interests of the food sector.

PK ČR serves members and, in its representative capacity, the wider Czech food industry in dealings with public administration, EU institutions, and other organizations. Its focus is on food legislation, commercial and industrial policy, financing, the environment, and EU-related matters, with a strong emphasis on practical support for companies navigating regulation and market conditions.

The organization also runs related initiatives and platforms, including the Czech Technology Platform for Foodstuffs, and uses its website as a hub for news, legislative updates, projects, events, and sector information.

Core Values

  • Sector representation: PK ČR positions itself as a strong advocate for the Czech food industry, defending members’ interests in policy, regulation, and public debate.
  • Expertise and service: The chamber emphasizes high competence across the issues that matter to food businesses, combining legal, technical, and policy support.
  • Practical problem-solving: Its services are designed to help companies deal with real operational issues such as labeling, hygiene, food safety, and access to funding.
  • Knowledge sharing: Through monitoring, newsletters, events, and project work, PK ČR promotes information exchange and professional development across the sector.

Unique Aspects

  • Statutory representative role: Beyond serving members, PK ČR has a legal mandate to represent the interests of the Czech food industry under the Food Act.
  • Broad sector reach: Its remit covers food-industry businesses, professional associations, research institutes, schools, laboratories, and accredited entities in related fields.
  • EU and project involvement: PK ČR participates in European and national projects such as D4PACK, SEAFOODTOMORROW, ICCEE, and FOODSAFETY4EU, giving it a strong role in sector innovation and policy exchange.
  • Czech Technology Platform for Foodstuffs: The chamber established this platform in 2006 as an organizational section, extending its role into technology and innovation coordination.
  • Trademark stewardship: PK ČR owns and manages the "Czech Product - guaranteed by the Food Chamber of the Czech Republic" mark, which it licenses to qualifying products.
