Agricovert

Agricovert is a cooperative based in Gembloux that brings together local organic producers from Walloon Brabant and Namur with consumer-members who want to support a fairer food system. It operates as a social economy project built around short supply chains, direct links between farms and customers, and a commitment to transparent, respectful trade. The cooperative positions itself as an alternative to the dominant food model by prioritizing local sourcing, organic or conversion-certified products, and democratic governance. It serves both private customers and professionals such as restaurants, schools, crèches, collective kitchens, and businesses through its shops, webshop, and weekly basket-style distribution. Alongside the cooperative, AgricoTiers extends the project through a third place, awareness-raising activities, shared services, and food-related events. Together, they aim to connect rural and urban communities, support local producers, and create social and professional inclusion opportunities. Key Offerings Organic local produce : Fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from local organic farmers and, where needed, from carefully selected partners that share Agricovert’s ecological and social standards. Webshop and physical shops : Customers can buy online or in store, making the cooperative’s products accessible through both digital and face-to-face channels. Weekly baskets : Agricovert offers basket-based distribution, including the Mini-Pousses basket for pregnant women seeking locally produced vegetables without chemical inputs. Catering and prepared food services : Through AgricoTiers and AgriGnoter, the group provides healthy, seasonal meals to eat on site or take away, as well as tailor-made catering. Shared-object rental : AgricoTiers’ objethèque lets customers rent occasional-use items such as kitchenware, party equipment, DIY tools, gardening gear, and camping equipment at low cost. Core Values Fair pricing : Agricovert promotes a model that aims to give producers a decent income while keeping products accessible for consumers. Transparency and traceability : The cooperative emphasizes knowing where products come from and how they are produced, with clear sourcing rules and organic standards. Ecological responsibility : Its offer is rooted in family farming, biodiversity-friendly practices, and a strong preference for products grown without pesticides. Solidarity and inclusion : Agricovert links food distribution with social impact, including reintegration opportunities for people in precarious situations and support for young adults with disabilities. Collective governance : Producers, consumer-members, and workers participate in a democratic model where decisions are made collectively. Unique Aspects Dual structure with AgricoTiers : The cooperative is complemented by an ASBL that runs a third place, events, coworking, an objethèque, and catering, broadening the project beyond retail. Strong social mission : Agricovert explicitly combines local food distribution with inclusion goals, including socio-professional reintegration and support for people in precarious situations. Direct producer-consumer model : The cooperative stresses direct sourcing from regional farms and a short-chain approach that reduces distance between growers and eaters. Third-place ecosystem in Gembloux : Its site brings together a shop, a workspace, food services, and community activities in one location, creating a multi-use local hub. Project to expand facilities : The homepage highlights a fundraising campaign to acquire and renovate a building to better serve members and producers, showing an active growth phase.
