History and Development Since its inception, Gemidan A/S has expanded its operations and services: 1994–1998 : Established Gemidan NMI, expanded into waste packaging and international projects, and undertook its first outsourcing project involving the production and sale of alternative support fuel. 2005 : Expanded to operational solutions at composting sites and began producing and selling compost for the agricultural sector. Achieved ISO 14001 environmental certification. 2012 : Acquired complementary companies to strengthen focus on sustainable solutions, including SWS – Special Waste System (handling of hazardous waste) and Komtek Miljø. Took over the pilot project ECOGI, developing a flexible solution for the treatment of food and organic waste through its own pulping technology. 2016 : Established the subsidiary Gemidan Ecogi A/S to further develop and sell the Ecogi technology. 2019 : Opened its own Ecogi facility in Frederikshavn, becoming the owner and operator of two Ecogi facilities in Denmark. 2020 : Established an Ecogi pre-treatment facility in Egedal Municipality near Ølstykke, with the facility opening in January 2021.
