Voedsel Verbindt

Voedsel Verbindt is a Dutch non-profit platform and ANBI foundation focused on strengthening a sustainable, regional, and circular food system in North Holland and Flevoland, with a particular emphasis on the Amsterdam metropolitan region and surrounding agricultural areas. Since 24 April 2019, it has provided an overview of relevant agri-food initiatives, developments, projects, and organizations in the region, while also helping stakeholders find one another and work together. The organization positions itself as an active connector rather than a producer of food products. It brings together businesses, governments, knowledge institutions, education providers, and advocates, and it supports initiatives that fit its vision and strategy. Its work is organized around themes such as circular food economy, healthy eating, smarter logistics, regional sourcing, talent development, and data use. Core Values Sustainability : The organization works toward a food system that is environmentally responsible, with attention to circularity, reduced waste, and lower-impact logistics. Regional connection : It emphasizes stronger links between city and countryside, and between producers, consumers, and institutions in North Holland and Flevoland. Collaboration : Voedsel Verbindt repeatedly stresses that progress comes from bringing more parties together, sharing knowledge and experience, and working jointly where possible. Knowledge sharing : The platform values data, research, education, and practical learning as tools to accelerate food-system transition. Health : Healthy eating is treated as a core theme, with attention to better food environments and more nutritious choices. Unique Aspects Regional food-system connector : Voedsel Verbindt is not a single-issue initiative; it acts as a broad regional connector across circularity, health, logistics, regional sourcing, talent, and data. Strong territorial focus : Its scope is specifically the provinces of North Holland and Flevoland, with the Amsterdam metropolitan region as a central area of action. Data Value Center : The organization has established its own Data Value Center for the agri-food short chain, aimed at helping food producers move toward a more sustainable business model through better data use. Network-based initiative archive : Its website functions as a living map of regional initiatives, projects, and partners, making the ecosystem itself part of the offering. ANBI foundation structure : The foundation states that its board members receive no compensation for their work, reflecting its non-profit, public-interest orientation.
