Wiersum Plantbreeding is a plant breeding specialist that develops new and healthier varieties of agricultural crops. The crops in which we breed are: winterwheat, springwheat, springbarley, oats and fibreflax. Wiersum Plantbreeding also represents various foreign breeding companies in various crops for the Dutch market. We use both traditional and modern breeding techniques. The final varieties are selected on trial fields. Our varieties are grown throughout Europe and North America and the necessary starting material is produced in the immediate vicinity of our breeding company in Dronten. By applying, among other things, new selection techniques, the basis is laid for new varieties with unique properties. Through our test field locations in Germany, England and France, among others, and through cooperation with various partners at an international level, the knowledge of our varieties is greatly expanded.
