DOEN believes that a green, social and creative society is achievable. Because the world is rich in enterprising people with sustainable, cultural and social initiatives. People who dare to take risks to bring their often groundbreaking ideas to life and thereby inspire others. DOEN offers these people financial support to realize their initiative and brings them into contact with each other. The DOEN Foundation receives its resources from the National Postcode Lottery and the VriendenLoterij. Green, Socially Inclusive and Creative The DOEN Foundation supports pioneers who work hard to establish a greener, more socially-inclusive, and more creative society, in which: the capacity of the planet is the starting point (green); everybody can participate, where people work together and help each other with respect for individual needs and possibilities (socially inclusive); art and culture are at the heart in the belief that society can not do without (creative). The DOEN Foundation supports initiatives that focus on one of these three themes. Within these themes, we work with programs which specify the type of initiatives we support. Since 2018, DOEN has been working with a focus on transitions. This means that DOEN puts four major system transitions at the heart of its approach. The transition to... a circular economy; a society where the commons comes first; a society in which everyone can participate; a world in which there is space for radical imagination. DOEN’s theory of change reflects what DOEN wants to achieve and the role DOEN plays in that. DOEN is supporting pioneers on the basis of seven opportunities for change: Circular Entrepreneurship Sustainable Food System Renewable Energy Social Entrepreneurship & Inclusion (VriendenLoterij Fonds) Innovative Community Initiatives Celebrate the art of change (Vriendenloterij Fonds) More space for imagination through International Culture & Media
