Symfonio BV

Symfonio BV is a project dedicated to authentic African food products, focusing on creating sustainable and healthy options with special properties. The company emphasizes organic farming of valuable grains such as Fonio, which is appreciated for its nutty flavor, as well as other products like prehistoric wild giant tree fruits and tiger nuts, which are edible organic root tubers with a rich history as a staple food since 16,000 BC. The mission of Symfonio is to support livelihoods for African small farmers and rural women, enhancing the local food chain while promoting the vibrant flavors of Africa. The company aims to export surplus production from women's cooperatives, thereby providing them with essential income for their families and communities. The project began in the Sahel region, addressing the overlooked potential of African food products compared to those sourced from Asia and South America. The leadership team includes Solange Domaye, CEO, who strives to foster sustainable trade between Africa and Europe; Poppe Braam, who brings over 30 years of experience in organic raw materials; and Martha Jeuken, a consultant with extensive experience in the organic industry. Together, they work to encourage organic farming, set up local processing industries, offer financial assistance, and create export markets for these authentic crops.
