Campus@Sea is a fieldlab and innovation hub in the port of Scheveningen, The Hague, focused on enabling the smart, safe, and sustainable multi-use of the North Sea. It brings together entrepreneurs, researchers, educational institutions, governments, and social organizations to share knowledge, develop offshore innovations, and accelerate their validation and certification. The organization positions itself as a connecting force in the maritime community: a place to meet, learn, work, and innovate around the blue economy. Its mission is to help unlock the North Sea’s potential for the food, climate, and energy transition by fostering collaboration across offshore renewable energy, sustainable food from the sea, marine nature development, safety and security at sea, and watersports. Core Values Collaboration : Campus@Sea emphasizes building a community of like-minded stakeholders and creating a place where knowledge, experience, and networks can be shared to speed up innovation. Sustainability : Its vision centers on realizing the North Sea’s potential through smart, safe, and sustainable multi-use, with biodiversity and nature strengthening as an important starting point. Innovation acceleration : The organization focuses on testing, validating, and certifying offshore innovations so they can be deployed at scale and create positive societal and economic impact. Knowledge sharing : Campus@Sea actively facilitates programming, events, and community access that help entrepreneurs, researchers, and partners learn from one another and develop practical solutions. Unique Aspects Dedicated North Sea multi-use focus : Campus@Sea is specifically built around the concept of multi-use of the North Sea, combining offshore energy, food, nature, safety, and watersports in one innovation ecosystem. Scheveningen harbor location : Its base in the compact harbor of Scheveningen gives it direct access to the sea, a maritime knowledge cluster, and the broader The Hague policy environment. Offshore testing infrastructure : The Maritime Testing Ground and Offshore Test Site provide real-world offshore conditions for startups and scale-ups to test and demonstrate technologies. Formal public collaboration : In 2023, Coöperatie Campus@Sea U.A. signed a cooperation agreement with the Municipality of The Hague and the Province of South Holland, supporting its role in regional blue-economy innovation. Community-based access and benefits : Membership in the Campus@Sea community provides access to events, networking, support services, and facilities such as the testing ground and event space, with member discounts on venue use.
