CO-FRESH (Faba bean case) (Project)

CO-FRESH is an EU H2020 project focused on co-creating sustainable and competitive fruit and vegetable value chains in Europe, aiming to enhance high protein yields. The project seeks to innovate and redesign agri-food value chains by leveraging best practices and success factors, utilizing both technological and non-technological approaches. Its primary goal is to improve the economic, social, and environmental performance and efficiency of these value chains through smart integration of innovations in various areas. The CO-FRESH initiative includes 26 partners from 10 countries, engaging in 7 pilot cases across different agri-food value chains. The project emphasizes the development of techniques and tools to foster environmentally sustainable and economically competitive practices within the agricultural sector. The consortium comprises agri-food companies, associations, technological experts, and specialists in sustainability and consumer acceptance. Additionally, CO-FRESH plays a vital role in addressing global challenges such as climate change and food insecurity while also contributing to significant discussions on food production transparency, including regulations on New Genomics Techniques (NGTs). Through events and publications, the project shares insights and best practices to reduce food waste and promote sustainability across Europe.
